The National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA), Sri Lanka participated at the “Deyata Kirula” (annual national trade exhibition).
The Deyata Kirula was held at Pallekele- Kandy for the first time. The exhibition was held from the 4th to the 10th of February 2010.

The National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) organized a lecture titled “The colour balancing of Padmaraga” on the 3rd of February 2010 at the NGJA auditorium.
The lecture was presented by Mr Upali Nandalal Ranasinghe. Mr Upali is the Chief Valuer and gemmologist at the National Gem and Jewellery Authority.

1) A large blue sapphire found at Palmadulla, Sri Lanka (See photo above), weighing 250 carats. It is a corn flower blue sapphire of exceptional quality.
2) Splendor of Sri Lanka, large blue sapphire gemstone weighing 1.6 kg (See photo above) was found at Palmadulla.

The NGJA –National Gem and Jewellery Authority now provides silver at subsidized rates to traditional jewelers. This gives the local jewelers an opportunity of improving their designing skills and organizing themselves so that they can manufacture products that will meet internationally acceptable standards.
The Sri Lanka assay office guarantees the purity of the silver.
